Product Description

Epaulette Shark - Hemiscyllium ocellatum

The Epaulette Shark is found in shallow, tropical waters off Australia. The Epaulette is best known for it's 2 black spots and ability to "walk" on sand or rocks. Very great shark to have in an aquarium as it is calm. It is recommended to remove any fish that may nip at the fins of this shark. Building a rock structure is also recommended as this shark likes to hide certain times of the day. The Epaulette Shark can survive hours without oxygen as it increases blood flow to the brain by shutting down certain neurons. This action is common in tide pools in the ocean. The Epaulette Shark can chew it's food for up to 10 minutes when feeding and can crush shells.

Recommended Aquarium Settings:

Temp: 68 - 78 Degrees

Tank/Pond Size: 300+ gallons @ 10 inches

Salinity: 1.020 - 1.023

Temperment: Semi-Aggressive

Received another healthy shark in a large box, with a short, direct flight. Jeremy was very pleasant to work with in getting what I was looking for.

  2. EXCELLENT 5 Star Review

Received another healthy 12" shark. Jeremy scheduled the shipping out to make sure he had a large enough box, good weather where I live, and a short, direct flight. This shows how much the animals are cared for. I am looking forward to buying from Shark & Reef again!

Received a healthy 12" epaulette shark, packed in a large box with plenty of water/room, with a nice direct flight to my airport. Jeremy was helpful and quick to respond to any questions I had. Will buy from here again.
